Planning for a creative career?

Hey, I'm Aya! Excited to meet you! I have worked in many areas of design including post-production, graphic design, illustration, web design, product design and animation.

I was lucky to go to RISD where I learned how to solve problems, present my work, and improve my eye. The sad thing is that at the time no one told me that my knowledge was not enough to survive in the "real" world outside of school. I had to learn the hard way.

I have been in design for over 14 years now and my goal is to help new creatives step into the professional world with confidence and a clear understanding of what is to come.

If you are worried about paying bills on your own and going into the professional world, I would love to talk to you and hear where you are at. It is absolutely normal to be nervous. Sometimes it takes a while to get a job, you have to send out your resume daily, talk to your network, and find professionals who can vouch for you. The journey is never an easy one as a creative, so you have to be willing to put yourself out there, price your work confidently, and be aware when you are working in a position that doesn't serve you. There is never one solution that fits all, every situation is unique, so it is important to be aware of where you are at currently and where you envision yourself next.
